2019 Château Planères La Romanie - Elevé en fûts de chêne Syrah/Mourvèdre/Grenache Noir - Côtes du Roussillon Villages Les Aspres 0.75 Ltr. Rouge
picture of

Intense, dark, ruby red color. Syrah emerges first and provides intensely dark flavors with hints of spice and pepper. Grenache makes it juicier, adds complexity and tempers the Syrah and Mourvèdre provides nicely structured but soft tannins and gives it a wild edge. Despite these 3 powerhouses, the wine remains refined and elegant with an interesting mineral undertone. Roussillon at its most complete!

Lamb (from the Pyrenees) cannot think of a better companion but also delicious with matured entrecote, fine game like roebuck or doe, rabbit, roast pigeon and spicy and intensely flavored cheeses.

climate

Mediterranean climate with long hot summers and mild winters, due to the dry winds of the "PYRENE"

soil

Very rocky clay-limestone slopes, facing South-East

vinification

Grapes are hand picked selectively. Separate maceration and fermentation under controlled temperature on inox. The wine is then blended and aged for a further 12 months in French oak before bottling.
